Jacqueline Johnson is a PhD Student in the Division of Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Southern California. She received her BA in Sociology from Boston University and her MA in Media Studies from The University of Texas at Austin, where her thesis project focused on Black reception and Twitter through an analysis of WGN America’s Underground. Her research is centered on the relationship between race, gender, television, and digital platforms, with an emphasis on Black women and contemporary romance narratives. She spends her free time reading celebrity gossip, romance novels, and viral tweets.
