Patricia Ciccone is a second-year PhD student and Annenberg Fellow in Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Southern California. Prior to joining USC, Ciccone completed a MA in Film Studies at Concordia University and received a MLIS degree from UCLA, where she wrote a master’s thesis, Future’s Past: Exploring the Archival Legacy of Expo67, on the use of archival material in urban spaces during the 50th anniversary celebrations of Expo67 in Montreal.
At USC, her dissertation project draws on a wide variety of theoretical fields and explores the technological, the aesthetic and the socio-political entanglements between contemporary navigational media and space. It questions how digital mapping and navigational technologies (re)articulate the spatial and generate new logics, politics and imaginaries of space and territory.
Ciccone also performs as Patty Booboo in the dance/art collective Donzelle and was a founding member of the now defunct Collectif d’art Hop la Vie! art collective.
